Sergio Ramos reportedly met with Florentino Perez two hours before heading onto the pitch to discuss his contract.
According to the famous Spanish TV program ‘El Chiringuito’, Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos sat down in a hotel with president Florentino Perez to discuss his future at the club. Josep Pedrerol reported that the center-back informed Perez he couldn’t sign the contract renewal offer on the table.
Sergio Ramos is being offered a contract extension with the same €12 million salary he currently banks. However, the player wants a pay raise that Perez simply cannot offer under the ongoing financial situation.
Therefore, the player allegedly warned the Merengues’ president he was going to begin listening to other club’s offers. Moreover, Ramos claimed Paris Saint-Germain told him they were going to make an “equipazo” (great team) with the defender and Lionel Messi.
According to Pedrerol, Florentino Perez wants to keep the captain within their ranks. Nevertheless, he will understand his departure should a more attractive offer arrive. Another ‘El Chiringuito’ journalist claimed that Ramos felt somewhat abandoned at Madrid. In fact, the Spanish defender is believed to have accused Perez and Jose Angel Sanchez of wanting him out.
Both Sergio Ramos and Leo Messi are free to receive offers from other clubs as they have entered the final six months of their respective contracts.
