According to a report coming from Spain, Real Madrid has a specific plan to renew Sergio Ramos’ contract before the end of the season.

Just like Messi with Barcelona, Sergio Ramos is free to leave Real Madrid for free since January the 1st. The Spanish defender is free to negotiate with the club of his choosing already but the club is trying to convince him to retire there. Much like it’s happened a few times before, Sergio always tends to “flirt” with other football clubs when he wants a raise in his contract.

However, things are very different right now since we are talking about a veteran player. Top football clubs don’t really like extending contracts to players who might retire soon. But Ramos’ case is very specific in the sense that he is actually better than he was during his ‘20s. This is the reason Real Madrid will try their best to convince Ramos to retire with the white kit. They have a specific plan for him.

Real Madrid’s plan to convince Sergio Ramos.

According to La Sexta, Sergio Ramos is willing to negotiate but he and his brother (agent) want to earn more money. They are asking for a salary increase but the club is refusing to do so. What they offer is a one-year extension without lowering his wages or a two-year extension with a 10% salary decrease. This is the main reason Sergio Ramos has refused to extend his contract with Real Madrid.

It is also the main reason other clubs are starting to scramble in order to get his signature. There are major contenders to sign Ramos and can pay top dollar for his services by next summer. We will keep you informed on how this situation develops. Chances are that Real Madrid bends the knee and they give him more money. Los Blancos simply can’t afford to allow their captain to leave.
