FC Barcelona fans won’t be happy about this but Lionel Messi is a free agent starting today. Where will he end up by next summer?

Lionel Messi’s future was the talk of 2020 but he is officially a free agent starting today. Although his contract ends in the summer of 2021, the rules say he can already start negotiations with any club of his choosing. Despite him saying he hasn’t spoken to any foreign club, reports suggest at least Manchester City and PSG are possible destinations for him. His final decision to either stay or leave Barcelona is directly linked to how he feels after this season ends.

But make no mistake, Leo already has at least two offers on the table from these two clubs we mentioned. There is also the MLS option via Inter Miami. It is well-known that David Beckham will do everything in his power to sign the Argentine when he is ready. But let’s talk about the options he has to leave the Blaugrana.

Messi is torn between Paris and Manchester.

The first option is to eventually return to play under Pep Guardiola, the best manager he ever had. Manchester City is an ideal place for Leo to finish his career at the highest level and the club will benefit from having one of the best players in football history representing them. Messi’s age at this point is completely irrelevant because he keeps playing at an impressive level.

As the manager who knows him better than anyone, Pep already has a plan for Leo to grow in the Premier League. The other option is PSG, where his friend Neymar still plays today. Just imagine what Messi could do next to the Brazilian and Kylian Mbappe, the possibilities are endless. In the end, it is also possible Leo decides to stay and try to help Barcelona win more trophies until he decides to retire. But his future is still blurry at the moment.
