Ramos & Messi to unite at Man City?

Manchester City have been hot on Lionel Messi’s trail. The Barcelona skipper is out of contract in the summer and can begin transfer talks with other clubs this month. But it seems Pep Guardiola has a few more tricks up his sleeve.

The former Barcelona boss is a ‘fan of Ramos’ and would like to sign him to bolster his defense. The City board is also in favor, regarding the Real Madrid captain’s defensive and leadership skills in a high esteem.

And with the 34-year-old out of contract at the end of the season, City are ‘closely monitoring’ the situation. [ESPN]

Barcelona’s transfer plans revealed

Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia, and Georginio Wijnaldum are Barcelona’s top transfer targets and all have one thing in common – they’ll be free agents in the summer once their respective contracts have expired.

Ronald Koeman would ideally like all three in January. Considering the club’s upcoming presidential elections on January 24 and the volatile financial situation at Camp Nou, however, Barcelona would prefer to sign the trio for free in the summer. [Sky Sports]

Tottenham make a decision on Alli’s future

Dele Alli has lost favor under Jose Mourinho, having only made start in his four Premier League appearances so far. The 24-year-old has been linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain, who recently appointed ex-Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino as their new manager.

But Spurs have not considered selling or loaning Alli this month. Goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga and full-back Danny Rose, however, are free to leave. [Sky Sports]

Man City suffer De Bruyne setback

Kevin De Bruyne is set to turn down a five-year contract offer. The Belgian’s current deal expires in June 2023, and Manchester City are keen to tie him down. The Citizens began talks for an extension last year, but they’ve made very little progress.

De Bruyne is allegedly unsatisfied with the first offer and concerned by the pace of negotiations. [Times – subscription required]

The race for Eriksen heats up

The Italian dream is over for Christian Eriksen. The Dane has failed to make an impact at Inter Milan and is now a mere fringe player under Antonio Conte. Therefore, he is expected to leave the San Siro in the near future.

Several clubs have reportedly expressed an interest, including Premier League giants Arsenal. But the former Tottenham star has become a subject of interest to Wolves and his old club Ajax. [Sky Italia via Mail]

Arsenal eye a player-plus-cash deal for Buendia

Emi Buendia remains a wanted man. His impressive debut campaign in the Premier League last season is still fresh on everybody’s minds, despite the Argentine now playing in the Championship after Norwich City’s relegation.

But Buendia has kept interest alive with some impressive performances in the second-tier division. Therefore, Arsenal are keeping tabs and could offer Norwich a player-plus-cash deal for the 24-year-old involving Joe Willock and Reiss Nelson. [Independent]
