The German didn’t exactly have a flying start to his tenure at Stamford Bridge but is optimistic about the future with his new players.

Thomas Tuchel is thrilled to finally have N’Golo Kante and Olivier Giroud in his squad, having wanted to work with the players for “many years.”

Tuchel was drafted in at Chelsea managerial office on Tuesday, just a day after club legend Frank Lampard was chased out.

The 47-year-old reportedly put pen to paper on an 18-month contract to become the 13th manager for the Blues ever since Roman Abramovich bought the club back in 2003.

Having guided Borussia Dortmund to DFB-Pokal success and led Paris Saint-Germain to Ligue 1 glory, among other honors, he has now been tasked with setting the star-studded Chelsea side on track.

“I wanted many years to have N’Golo Kante in my team and now I have him here, also Olivier Giroud, we have a clear picture,” Tuchel said after overseeing a 0-0 draw against Wolves in his first game in charge of Chelsea, via Goal.

“I have been following the Premier League for many years both in Dortmund and in Paris so I have a clear picture of what the guys are capable of.

“To find a guy like [Cesar] Azpilicueta in your office is simply amazing because, in the end, I am also a fan of football.”
