Chelsea took on Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Tuchel’s first game in the Premier League. We have the player ratings.

It’s the start of a new era at Chelsea as Super-Frank’s spell came to a premature end. Tonight’s Premier League clash against Wolves marked Thomas Tuchel’s debut as the Blues’ lead manager. However, Tuchel made headlines before the ball started rolling as he decided to leave Mason Mount on the bench.

In the first 45 minutes, Chelsea dominated the game with some ‘Tiki-Tuchel’ for fans to enjoy. In fact, the Blues had a shocking 94% ball possession in the last five minutes of the first half. However, they failed to win any big chances as Wolves comfortably defended the tie using the last third of the pitch.

As the second half began, not much had changed. Chelsea were still dominating but most of their passes didn’t add much progression on the pitch. In fact, both sides failed to create much danger throughout the 90 minutes.

Wolves let Chelsea roam around the pitch and attempted to strike on the counter-attack. Although Pedro Neto’s efforts could’ve resulted in a match-winner, the Portuguese forward hit the crossbar and left the Wanderers goalless.

On the other hand, the Blues had one great opportunity as Kovacic delivered a wonderful curved ball from just outside the box. However, Wolves were lucky as the shot came out a bit too wide.

Additionally, Tuchel’s new team had a chance in the last minute of the match as Havertz saw his header get blocked by debutant Willian Jose on a terrific effort. Nevertheless, Chelsea managed to secure eight place in the league for now, as they surpassed Aston Villa who have two games pending.
