The Red Devils lost more ground in the title race after they returned from Stamford Bridge without all three points in the bag.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has singled out Daniel James from Manchester United’s draw against Chelsea, giving the player “top marks” for his performance.
James has been able to regain his manager’s trust following a couple of praise-worthy performances.
The Welshman was on target in his side’s 4-0 thrashing of Real Sociedad in the Europa League and scored an all-important goal in the 3-1 Premier League win over West Ham.
While he was unable to breach the opposition defense on Sunday and perhaps showed poor decision-making at times, the forward was dangerous with his pace on the break and pressed eagerly off the ball.
“He did really well,” Solskjaer said on the club’s official website.
“His defending, his pressing, his energy. What we asked for, he gave us. They kicked him between pillar and post, so top, top marks for him.”
The Man Utd manager added: “We will improve. Last season, we had some great results in a different manner, at the moment we’re trying to develop this style, develop ourselves to win these games and to have those last bits.
“Defending, energy, application; everything was really good defensively.”
