After a second consecutive defeat against Wolverhampton, Frank Lampard had his reaction right after the final whistle at Molineux Stadium

Frank Lampard was expecting Chelsea to come back from last weekend’s painful defeat against Everton. Today was the second time the Blues visited another stadium and they urgently needed a victory in order to forget about the previous loss at Goodison Park.

But the rivals in question were one of the most competitive sides in English football today. Despite Raul Jimenez’s sensible absence, Nuno Espirito Santos’ squad is still a force to be reckoned with. For a club as competitive as this one, the rival doesn’t really matter because playing at home always makes them stronger.

Despite Chelsea having the millions to spend in great players from abroad. Wolves are a much more defined squad that’s been evolving over the years. Frank Lampard was clearly distressed by the defeat, but he also knew this was a possibility against this squad.

Frank Lampard’s reaction after the loss.

For the English manager, it’s frustrating to see how his squad is showing ups and downs this often in all competitions. “Performance is what gives you results, and we had a long run of good performances but maybe the lads think we’re playing well, and when you think you’re playing well this is what happens,” Lampard told Amazon via Goal.

“Maybe it’s for the players to think about the game while they’re resting. Think about tonight, think about Everton. This is the Premier League and if you don’t perform, you lose games. At 1-0, we should see the game out. If you’re not playing that well, which we weren’t tonight, hang on to 1-0. Control the game. Don’t allow counter-attacks, and we did.”
