Tottenham vs Wolves

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 3-1

“Bruno Lage’s side’s biggest issue last year was they didn’t score enough goals, despite having some very talented players. Tottenham clearly don’t have that problem. It will be interesting to see if Antonio Conte starts with Richarlison this time, but either way they will have too much firepower for Wolves to handle.”

Paul Merson: 2-1

“With Harry Kane, Son Heung-min and Dejan Kulusevski, Spurs have got enough individual brilliance up front to unlock Wolves’ backline, so I’m going for a 2-1 Tottenham win.”

Phil Thompson: N/A (Tottenham to win)

“If you’re looking at consistency, Spurs have been unbeaten in their last eight Premier League games, they’ve won seven of the last eight at home. They are becoming a force at the new stadium and they’ve won the last four as well. I think they’ll keep a clean sheet.”

Everton vs Nottingham Forest

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 2-0

“Everton badly need a similar result to kick-start their season, but I don’t think they are playing that badly. The Toffees are still missing a proper center-forward, but they looked much better against Villa when new signing Amadou Onana came on. I fancy them here, especially because they are at home.”

Paul Merson: 2-1

“I expect another hard season for Everton, but something tells me they’ll get all three points this weekend.”

Leicester City vs Southampton

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 2-1

“There will be goals in this one, and I’m going with Brendan Rodgers to get his first win of the season.”

Paul Merson: 3-1

“I wouldn’t want to make a prediction on Leicester City until the transfer window shuts, but as for this game, I think they’ll have enough firepower to prevail over Southampton at home.”

Fulham vs Brentford

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-1

“Fulham will have a real go at them, like they did against Liverpool in their last home game, so this is a much bigger test than United offered and it should be a good game. It will be close, too. The Cottagers have drawn both their games so far, and I can see the points being shared again.”

Paul Merson: 2-2

“If I had to pick someone, I’d go for Brentford, but I think this one will end all square at Craven Cottage.”

Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-1

“This is a hard one to call either way, so I am going to go for a draw.”

Paul Merson: 1-1

“It’s a tough game to call, so I’m going for a 1-1 draw.”

Bournemouth vs Arsenal

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 0-2

“If you look at the scoreline, Bournemouth got walloped by Manchester City in their last game, but they actually didn’t do that much wrong. They are at home this time and might think this is a game where they can go for it a little bit more. I don’t think it will work, but the Cherries will not roll over even if they go behind.”

Paul Merson: 1-3

“Bournemouth started the season with three points against Aston Villa but were blown away by Manchester City last weekend. Arsenal have been one of the most impressive sides so far in the Premier League this season and played brilliant football against Crystal Palace and Leicester City, so I expect them to go to the Vitality Stadium and make it three wins from three.”

Phil Thompson: N/A (Arsenal to win)

“I think it’s going to be tight because Bournemouth are at home. I’m going for Arsenal to win this but only just.”

West Ham vs Brighton

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-1

“West Ham haven’t beaten Brighton in 10 attempts since the Seagulls returned to the Premier League in 2017, and I don’t see that run ending here. Graham Potter’s team are superbly organized and I’d back them to get something from this game too.”

Paul Merson: 1-1

“I can’t separate these two teams at the moment, so I’m going for draw.”

Leeds United vs Chelsea

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 0-1

“There are still a few question marks over what is going on with Chelsea up front, and they keep getting linked with new players too, but they were excellent against Spurs last week. If they play like that at Elland Road, they will win.”

Paul Merson: 0-2

“I still expect Chelsea to beat Leeds United because ultimately, their class will prevail. But when you look at the grand scheme of things, you can’t help but wonder where their goals are going to come from.”

Phil Thompson: N/A (Chelsea to win)

“They’ve not conceded more than one goal in their last 12 away Premier League games so they do look quite solid away from home. You also fancy Chelsea to score, I fancy Chelsea to score, and I do fancy them to keep a clean sheet.”

Newcastle vs Man City

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-3

“There will be a great atmosphere at St James’ Park and Newcastle might create one or two chances for Callum Wilson. I can only see a Manchester City win here, though. They have not really put a foot wrong so far.”

Paul Merson: 1-2

“Newcastle have made a solid start to the Premier League season, but I don’t see anything other than a Manchester City win. Eddie Howe will look to make it hard for the Cityzens with a plan to hit them on the counterattack, but Guardiola and co should still get all three points here to continue their perfect start to the new campaign.”

Phil Thompson: N/A (Man City to win)

“These are the only two sides left yet to concede going into it but I can’t look beyond Manchester City. City have scored at least two goals in each of their last 11 Premier League games so you know they’re going to score.”

Manchester United vs Liverpool

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-5

“They won 5-0 at Old Trafford last season and it is going to be a similar story this time, although I am going to give United a goal just to lift their spirits a little.”

Paul Merson: 1-1

“Manchester United have played in several European Cup finals and everything, but in the modern era, this is as big as it gets for them. Liverpool have been more successful in this fixture over the past few years, but this is the best time for Manchester United to face them. I might get absolutely ripped to shreds for my prediction, but I’m going to go for a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.”

Phil Thompson: N/A (Liverpool to win)

“Get this, Mo Salah has scored nine in his last six appearances against Manchester United so those who want to get on it, as I will be, it’s Mo Salah to Score Anytime in this match. I think the bet is Liverpool to win and Both Teams To Score.”
