Brentford vs Liverpool

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-2

“Brentford have scored three goals in each of their past two home games against Liverpool, and I can see them giving the Reds more problems this time too. I am going with my heart over my head, really, because I’d like to see a close title race and Liverpool need to keep winning to keep City at bay.”

Paul Merson: 0-2

“This will be a tough game, but I expect Liverpool to win and retain their place at the top of the table.”

Mark Lawrenson: 1-1

“I think this will be really tight. I might go for a low-scoring draw here. I’ve spoken about momentum a lot and I think Brentford have it now.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 1-1

“I want to go for a surprise here. Brentford haven’t been doing great, but they won last time out and will want to follow that up. Liverpool are a bit shaky at the back and it could cost them dearly. Early kick-off can be strange too. I’ll go for a draw.”

Burnley vs Arsenal

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-2

“It is a dangerous fixture [for Arsenal] because Burnley are scrapping for their lives. I do think Arsenal will win though.”

Paul Merson: 1-3

“Arsenal have been among the goals in recent weeks and should score a few away from home. Burnley actually played well against Liverpool, but the Reds were much better in the second half and saw off the game comfortably. I can see the home side succumbing to defeat similarly here.”

Mark Lawrenson: 0-3

“It’s a test for Arsenal because they are expected to win and we’ll see if they can cope with that, but I see them winning comfortably.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 1-3

“Burnley will have a slim chance of survival if they beat Arsenal, but are they going to win? Arsenal are experienced now and the maturity is there.”

Newcastle vs Bournemouth

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 2-1

“I just can’t back against Newcastle at home, though. Their manager Eddie Howe is also facing his old club and he cannot afford to lose to them on his pitch.”

Paul Merson: 2-1

“Newcastle got a really good result against Forest and I expect them to win once again this weekend. I can see a few goals in this one, so I’m going for a 2-1 home win.”

Mark Lawrenson: 2-0

“Newcastle had a really good win at Nottingham Forest in a really entertaining game last week, so I’ll go for them here.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 2-0

“There have been ups and downs for Newcastle this season, but I think they’ll have enough power to beat Bournemouth.”

Fulham vs Aston Villa

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 1-1

“Fulham have started scoring again, with Rodrigo Muniz getting two goals in their win over Bournemouth last week, and I feel like they will get something here as well.”

Paul Merson: 1-2

“The home side always have a go and that will play into Aston Villa’s hands, so I expect them to win this one.”

Mark Lawrenson: 2-1

“Aston Villa have had some poor results and I talk about the ups and downs of Premier League football all the times. They’ve just started conceding soft goals and they’ve got one or two injuries, so I fancy a home win.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 1-1

“Fulham play good football and like to pass it around. I’ll go for the draw.”

Nottingham Forest vs West Ham

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 2-1

“The Hammers surely can’t be lax as they were against Arsenal, but I am going with Nottingham Forest to find a way through.”

Paul Merson: 2-1

“I’d say this is the perfect time for Forest to take on West Ham, who are coming on the back of a 6-0 hammering against Arsenal. This is nothing less than a cup final for Forest and I expect them to record a big win in front of their home fans.”

Mark Lawrenson: 1-1

“West Ham just capitulated against Arsenal and I know they’re missing what is probably their best player in Lucas Paqueta, who’s injured. Nottingham Forest, in all honesty, were a little bit unlucky against Newcastle, so I’m going to go for a draw.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 2-2

“If Nottingham Forest are clever enough then they can take advantage of West Ham’s form. But sometimes after a thrashing, you pick yourself up and you go and win the next game.”

Tottenham vs Wolves

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 3-1

“Wolves won the reverse of this fixture in November with two goals in stoppage time, but I can see Tottenham getting their revenge here.”

Paul Merson: 3-2

“It wouldn’t surprise me if this game goes either way. I can see it being entertaining with bags of goals.”

Mark Lawrenson: 2-0

“I’m going to back Tottenham here. The way they start in games, I can’t see Wolves holding them off in the first 20 minutes and then the game’s completely different if you’re a goal down early on.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 2-1

“Tottenham will remember losing to Wolves earlier in the season. The manager and players will want to get revenge. Son is back, so Spurs have even more firepower up front.”

Manchester City vs Chelsea

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 2-0

“Chelsea gave it a real go in that draw in November, but the defending champions have gone up a notch or two since then, while Mauricio Pochettino’s side keep going up and down.”

Paul Merson: 3-2

“It’ll be an entertaining game played at a nice level, but I think City will come out on top.”

Mark Lawrenson: 2-0

“I watched Manchester City play Copenhagen in the Champions League the other night and they could have had six, seven, or eight, so they’re in great form. I fancy City to win this one.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 3-1

“City are at home, so I think it’ll be a win for them.”

Sheffield United vs Brighton

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 0-2

“Beating Luton gave Chris Wilder’s side a tiny glimmer of hope of avoiding the drop but, after this result, I am expecting them to feel as flat as a leftover pancake from Shrove Tuesday.”

Paul Merson: 1-3

“Sheffield United are coming on the back of a massive 3-1 win against Luton, but I think they’ll lose this one as Brighton are a tricky side to play against.”

Mark Lawrenson: 1-2

“Sheffield United had that big win at Luton last time and Brighton have been very up and down, not particularly convincing. Because Roberto De Zerbi’s back in the dugout, I’ll back them to win.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 2-1

“Brighton have been a little inconsistent this season, we know what they’re all about. Sheffield United will try to bully them, and playing at home I think they’ll get the win.”

Luton vs Manchester United

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 2-2

“Manchester United only beat Luton narrowly at Old Trafford in November, and this time I expect it to be even closer.”

Paul Merson: 1-3

“I think Scott McTominay will start this one for Manchester United. Luton are a set-piece threat and with the presence of McTominay, United can nullify some of that threat.”

Mark Lawrenson: 0-2

“I think Manchester United could put together a bit of a run now. They’re not completely convincing and they can look really ragged at times but they managed to sneak past Aston Villa with that great, thumping header late on.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 1-3

“As long as United don’t let themselves be bullied by Luton, especially on set-pieces, then United have enough quality to outsmart them.”

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Pundits predictions

Chris Sutton: 2-0

“Everton will see this as an incredible opportunity to end their long wait for three points and I bet Sean Dyche has them fired up.”

Paul Merson: 2-0

“Everton are on a bit of a slippery slope at the moment, but Palace are a beatable side when they play without Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise, so I expect the home side to get three crucial points in this one.”

Mark Lawrenson: 2-1

“We know Crystal Palace are without their two best players, so I’m going to back Everton with their home advantage.”

Dimitar Berbatov: 1-0

“Crystal Palace, sometimes they are here and sometimes they are not. So I’ll go for an Everton win.”
