After France’s victory in Kazakhstan, Didier Deschamps revealed why he is comfortable with his players’ performances in this break.

The France National Team didn’t play a great match against Ukraine last week, but they did fill Didier Deschamps’ expectations yesterday. With an initial goal from Dembele and an own goal from Maliy, this team delivered on the initial target. After the match, Didier Deschamps explained why he feels so confident this squad will only improve until the Euros.

We also can’t forget that France still has a pending World Cup Qualifier against Bosnia & Herzegovina on Wednesday. For the gaffer, even the match against Ukraine wasn’t a terrible performance despite only getting one point from it. Near the end of the press conference reported by the Ligue 1 official channel, Deschamps refused to respond to questions about Karim Benzema. After that, he proceeded to leave the premises.

Deschamps’ analysis of France’s performances.

“The French team is performing well and will continue to do so,” he declared via Ligue 1. “There were no big scores in other matches on Saturday either. It’s not easy for anyone. You have an opponent and the packed schedule of matches plus everything leading up to that. These are not excuses. I told the players at the talk to do the job, to win. It was bare minimum, but we won.

“There were nine new players compared to the match against Ukraine, but they already had experience,” explained Deschamps, who has one of the world’s most impressive talent pools at his disposal. I’m not going to take credit away from them for doing well. Qualifying is always difficult; the main thing is to reach the goal. The whole squad responded in a difficult match against an opponent who showed a lot of drive and motivation.”
