The Man Utd superstar allegedly broke an Everton fan’s phone after a league game last season.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed Cristiano Ronaldo will dispute his FA charge over a controversial altercation with an Everton fan.

Footage emerged of Ronaldo appearing to smash a fan’s phone after Man Utd’s defeat against Everton in April. Following an investigation by the Merseyside Police, FA went on to charge the 37-year-old.

Ronaldo issued an apology shortly after the incident, but he’s not planning to accept the FA charges.

“We spoke about that, he will not accept it,” Ten Hag said on Wednesday.

Ten Hag has started Ronaldo only four times this season, three of them being in the Europa League. However, the Dutchman believes Ronaldo is not far off from regaining his best form.

“I want to support him as good as possible,” Ten Hag said. “We have certain demands from players, what we expect in certain positions.

“I want to get the best out of him, he’s in better shape now and I’m happy with that. At the start, it was the case [a lack of fitness], and that has proven once again that no-one can miss a pre-season.”

Man Utd will continue their Europa League campaign with a match against Omonoia before facing Tottenham in the Premier League next weekend.
