Los Blancos stretched their winning run to six in a row on Wednesday, going level on points with table-toppers Atletico in the process.

Real Madrid downed a stubborn Granada 2-0, and Zinedine Zidane insists the victory was a well-deserved one for his side.

Granda posed problems for the hosts, especially before the break, but had nothing to show for it due to their inefficiency in front of goal.

Real Madrid were also unable to break the deadlock until deep into the second half, not for the lack of trying though. Casemiro put them on the front foot with a powerful header before Karim Benzema, continuing his red-hot form, sealed the win with a sublime finish in stoppage-time.

“It was such a tricky game. It was a f***ing tough game and that’s how it was for us,” Zidane said at full time, via Marca. “They came to press the ball.

“The first half was difficult and the second was much better. We deserved the win with the second-half display.

“The players have kept working and preparing for all the games. It’s what they have to do. We’re going to lose games. It’s inevitable every now and then. I’m happy for the players because they’ve put up with the criticism.”

The sixth consecutive victory in all competitions helped the defending champions keep pace with the current La Liga leaders.

Atletico Madrid and Real Madrid are now level on points at 32, though the former have two games in hand.
