Manchester United must add reinforcement to their squad so as to not fall behind their Premier League competitors, suggests Luke Shaw.

Manchester United have shown little activity in the transfer market so far despite the presence of quite a few shortcomings in their squad.

The 3-1 loss against Crystal Palace on the opening matchday brought forward their obvious frailties in defense as well as the lack of intent in front of goal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have been linked with Jadon Sancho for over six months now but there has hardly been any apparent progress to push the deal over the line.

While Sancho supposedly remains a priority signing, they are also understood to be in the need of a new defensive midfielder, a left-back, and a center-back.

The club’s lack of ambition has left the fans frustrated, especially when the other Premier League clubs are taking huge measures to strengthen their squads.

Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, among several other clubs, have all spent considerably in the transfer market in spite of the recent financial crisis.

“We have a very good group, but personally I think we need more players to strengthen the squad,” said a concerned Luke Shaw, speaking to TV2.

“It can give us a boost. When you look around at how other teams are strengthening their teams, then we must also do it to keep up with the others.”
