Kyle Walker is confident of Manchester City’s chances of going all the way through to the Champions League final despite the new circumstances.

Walker’s Manchester City have produced a strong Champions League campaign so far, reaching the quarter-finals as one of three sides yet to lose in Europe’s elite competition this term.

Pep Guardiola’s team finished top of Group C, seven points clear of runners-up Atalanta, and went on to dispatch Real Madrid in their two-legged last-16 tie.

The two identical 2-1 victories over Los Blancos have set up the quarter-finals showdown against Lyon, who surprisingly managed to oust Juventus in the round of 16.

However, the adversaries will have no margin for error when they lock horns in the one-legged tie at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Saturday.

Speaking of his personal goals and Manchester City’s chances of landing their first-ever Champions League trophy, Walker said: “I think if you had asked me this two years ago when I signed here, I would have probably said that the Premier League was the big one for me having not won it before.

“Now I have collected two of them and a number of others, and this is the one that I want, and I can probably speak on behalf of the whole squad and Manchester City as well for what they need as a club to put them onto that next pedestal.” the 30-year-old right-back told Football365.

“It is a unique situation that we are in but I feel like we just have to attack it as we attack every game, whether that is in the Premier League, cups or Champions League.

“We feel that our team as a whole and the way that we play and our philosophy is going to stand us in good stead to get us to where we want to be in the tournament, which is the final.”
