Donny van de Beek remains committed to Ajax but suggests he could have left had the coronavirus pandemic not happened.

One of the most wanted players in Europe, Van de Beek enjoyed another impressive season Ajax.

Just like many of his former teammates, such as Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, and Hakim Ziyech, he is also expected to quit the club sooner or later.

Earlier this season, Ajax director Edwin van der Sar commented on the speculations surrounding the midfielder’s future saying that he was indeed a target for several high-profile clubs including Real Madrid and Manchester United.

Real Madrid recently recalled Martin Odegaard‘s from his loan spell. Man United are also understood to be focusing all their attention and resources on signing Jadon Sancho.

It is possible that Van de Beek, as a result, could end up staying put at Amsterdam Arena.

“Nothing is certain yet. I am still a player of Ajax and I am still proud to be there,” he told Fox Sports.

“If there had not been the coronavirus, it might have been different now. There is no clarity now and we have to wait and see how it turns out.

“I’m still here and after all these years I still have a lot of fun. If I also play at Ajax next season, I still have a lot of fun. You won’t hear me complaining.”
