A startling new rumor has emerged claiming that Manchester United have named Gareth Bale and Douglas Costa as Jadon Sancho alternatives.

Sancho has been on Manchester United’s radar for quite some time following his sublime development at Borussia Dortmund.

It was only over a week ago that reports claimed the Red Devils had entered ‘advanced talks’ with Dortmund over signing him. However, the 20-year-old recently later boarded a plane to Switzerland for BVB’s pre-season training camp.

The club’s sporting director, Michael Zorc, has since announced Sancho will remain at Signal Iduna Park. Therefore, United must either wait another year or find an alternative. And it appears they’ve gone for the latter route.

According to The Athletic, Gareth Bale and Douglas Costa are among potential alternatives. Bayern Munich’s Kingsley Coman may also be in the frame.

Chances of the Frenchman heading to Old Trafford, though, are remote as Bayern are reluctant to sell despite recently signing Leroy Sane from Manchester City.

Should this be correct, Bale and Costa should be the only two viable options left for the 20-time English champions.

Other names mentioned are Jack Grealish and Kai Havertz. Both are highly rated talents and likely to leave their respective clubs, Aston Villa and Bayer Leverkusen, this summer. Their big transfer fees, however, make them an unlikely prospect.

So it may come down to United deciding between two veteran performers. It’s no secret they’ve admired Bale for a long time, but his wage demands may be a problem. Costa, on the other hand, has struggled to deliver many goals or assists for Juventus this season.
