Cengiz Under is overjoyed after linking up with a fellow countryman Caglar Soyuncu to achieve his ambition of playing in the Premier League.
Leicester City announced the signing of Cengiz Under on Sunday on a season-long loan deal from AS Roma for a reported €3 million loan fee.
Under became the club’s second major acquisition of the summer transfer window after full-back Timothy Castagne, who was signed for around €23 million earlier this month.
The 23-year remained a key part of the Roma team throughout his three-year stint, scoring 17 goals and providing 12 assists in 88 games across all competitions.
He initially started making noises during his time in the Turkish Super Lig playing for Istanbul Basaksehir, having joined the club from Altinordu.
Caglar Soyuncu is another player in Brendan Rodgers’ squad who once played for Altinordu, and Under is delighted to have reunited with his compatriot.
“I feel very good because my best friend plays for Leicester City. I’m very happy to be able to play with Caglar and I always watched Leicester’s games because of him,” he told the club’s official website.
“I’ve always wanted to play in England and this is a great opportunity to play in the Premier League.”
“I will try to help my team-mates on the pitch and off the pitch and I believe that I can improve my performance every day. I think I am fast and can create lots of chances for my colleagues.”
