Jamie Vardy finished last season with the Premier League Golden Boot and Brendan Rodgers believes he can do it again in the 2020/21 campaign.

Leicester City opened their Premier League campaign with an impressive 0-3 victory over West Brom. Newboy Timothy Castagne opened the scoring with Jamie Vardy scoring two second-half spot-kicks.

Vardy continued where he left off after winning the Golden Boot last season. Brendan Rodgers was pleased with his striker’s performance and believes he will have another wonderful season with the Foxes.

Rodgers hailed Vardy as one of the top European strikers and praised how he took his chances against the recently promoted outfit.

“There are many top strikers in this level but any team would want someone like him in there,” Daily Mail quoted Rodgers.

“He is super cool, clinical, he’s still got pace and running ability. He showed great composure with the penalties.

“It’s a great start for him and his two goals are very good for the team. With top-quality players, it doesn’t matter what they have done in the past, or how much money they earn.

“They want to be the best they can be. Jamie trains well, he works intensely and he is a natural goalscorer who is still quick. I expect he will have another great season.”

Vardy was instrumental for the Foxes push for the UEFA Champions League qualification, which they ultimately lost out to Chelsea and Manchester United.
