Olympiya Stadion in Baku was the place where Turkey played against Wales in the second Euro 2020 round. We got the player ratings.
The Wales National Team needed to defeat Turkey after their initial result against Switzerland, which ended in a 1-1 draw. As far as the Turkish side goes, they have been one of the most disappointing sides of the tournament thus far. They defeated France in the Qualifiers by taking the first spot from them. Today, they confirmed to be the most unexpected flop of the Euro 2020 with a 2-0 defeat in Baku. The man of the match was none other than Gareth Bale, who led the Welsh squad to victory with two massive assists.
Aaron Ramsey combined forces with Gareth to score the first goal during the first half. A beautiful pass between the lines from the Spurs’ forward left the Juventus midfielder alone in front of the goalkeeper. His finish was absolutely on point with no problems to score the goal. Wales kept attempting to score a second goal throughout the remains of the game but they struggled to get it. Turkey also tried their best to score but they were simply not in playing form during this tournament. Burak Yilmaz missed too many chances to count that left his side unwilling to revert the situation.
Gareth goes from zero to hero in minutes.
During the second half, we thought we would get a Gareth Bale goal after he got knocked down inside the box. A penalty was given for him to make the 2-0 in Wales’ favor but he sent his shot to the clouds. Practicing too much golf is starting to blur the lines for Gareth Bale, he needs to focus more on scoring goals. All jokes aside, Bale was absolutely dominant throughout the entire 90 minutes.
A performance worthy of a captain who also delivered the final assist of the evening to Roberts. This sealed the 2-0 victory and three more points for Wales that leaves them in a great position to earn themselves a spot on the knock-out stage of the Euro 2020. We didn’t think we would see Gareth Bale playing at a high level again. Fortunately, he cares more about his country than anything else in the world. Yes, even golf.
