Barcelona signed young Portuguese sensation Trincao from Braga but his unveiling was full of questions related to Lionel Messi.

Barcelona completed the signing of Trincao in January for a reported €31 million. The young forward was allowed to finish the 2019/20 Liga NOS season with Braga.

Trincao is now in Catalonia and was presented to the press. However, his unveiling was marred by questions about Lionel Messi. La Pulga had sent La Blaugrana burofax to unilaterally end his contract.

The 20-year-old reflected on Messi’s future and shared his preference for the Argentine’s long term stay at the Camp Nou.

Regarding his own future, Trincao shared he wants to be a ‘benchmark’ at Barcelona. He stated his desire to add value with goals and assists.

“Of course I want him to stay. We’ll see what happens,” Goal quoted Trincao.

“I arrived two weeks ago and I’m here to do my job and be a benchmark for this club.

“I am very happy to be here and I hope to be able to have many games, goals and assists.

“Everyone has had their story and I want to create mine and make history.”

Trincao will be fighting for first-team minutes with Antoine Griezmann as Luis Suarez head out. The Uruguayan was told over the phone by Ronald Koeman that he is not desired at the Camp Nou anymore.
