Lionel Messi sent certified fax to Barcelona, stating his intent to leave the club and end his 19-year association with the Catalan club.

Barcelona’s sustained poor performance has caught up with them. Lionel Messi has been carrying the club for the last five years and he has had enough.

Messi informed Ronald Koeman in a private meeting that he wants to leave. The club had hoped they could change La Pulga’s mind but have failed in their endeavors.

The disrespectful treatment of close friend and teammate, Luis Suarez, was the straw that broke the camel’s back. Koeman told Suarez over the phone that he does not see him part of the plans and should find employment elsewhere.

A day later, Messi has come out and shocked the footballing world. Marca has reported that the Argentine has sent certified fax, triggering a clause that allows him to be released from his contract.

Josep Maria Bartomeu has called for an emergency meeting of his directors to sort the issue.

A news that many Barcelona fans would have never thought they would hear. However, it seems to have been engineered by the current board. Joan Laporta hinted at it in his tweets and they have come true in a matter of hours.
