After a lively Round of 16, we finally have the UEFA Champions League clubs that will play the quarterfinals in the 2020-21 season.

We finally have the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals ready to go after a wildly entertaining Round of 16. Perhaps the biggest surprises are Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s squads suffering a historic elimination. This is the first time we won’t see either of both stars in this stage since 2005. It is time to move forward with the new generations who are playing fantastic football.

Out of the eight clubs that made it to this stage in the tournament, we have three from England, two from Germany, one from Spain, one from France, and one from Portugal. After careful consideration, there is no question that Germany came out on top of Spain this season and have a chance to maintain German football at the very top. But we can’t count the Premier League clubs out of this competition just yet, they are always dangerous opponents.

Which clubs are title contenders this season?

We will get to see the quarterfinals’ draw next Friday. The Champions League is set to continue after the international break that will happen at the end of March. Out of all the football clubs that will play this stage, there is no doubt that Bayern Munich is the top title contender. Just a step below them we have Manchester City and PSG. Both of these clubs are playing great football and deserve to be considered worthy opponents for Bayern Munich. Two steps below we have Chelsea, Liverpool, and Real Madrid.

None of these squads can be underestimated due to their tradition to compete in the Champions League. As the Cinderella stories, we have Borussia Dortmund and FC Porto. Perhaps the German squad has more chances with Haaland and Sancho on their roster. But the Portuguese club seems like the easy target for the rest of the big fish during the draw. However, this stage of the competition is famous for surprises. Can Porto pull it off this season?
