It’s time to analyze the possible domino effect that Romelu Lukaku’s exit from Inter MIlan can cause in English and Italian football.

Romelu Lukaku had a sudden change of heart when he realized how badly Chelsea is pressuring Inter Milan for his transfer. The Blues have now realized the error of their ways and they want their former player back at any cost. Initially, they offered an impressive €100 million-plus Marcos Alonso. But Inter wasn’t even entertained by this first proposal. The stakes got way higher when the Blues countered with a €130 million offer that even made Mino Raiola’s eyebrows raise.

If this transfer happens, Lukaku will become Chelsea’s number ‘9’ once again and he will even wear the jersey. But his potential exit from Inter Milan could cause a domino effect that will affect another club in Italian football. Not having a striker who can secure at least 20 goals per season is something that Inter Milan can’t afford. If the Belgian star leaves, they already have a player in mind who could replace him immediately. We are talking about Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata. The Colombian tank who has been laying waste to Serie A defenders for the last few years is the first player on the list.

Who will Atalanta sign if Zapata leaves?

Should Atalanta stay without their biggest striker, they will also look to England for a replacement. Lukaku’s arrival at Chelsea means that players like Tammy Abraham won’t have a spot within Thomas Tuchel’s starting eleven. Meaning that the England striker could also be on his way out of the club. Fabrizio Romano nailed this possible transfer once again with Chelsea entertaining the idea of selling Tammy for €40 million.

If Atalanta comes making an offer, they won’t hesitate to sell him. So, this would leave Lukaku at Chelsea, Zapata at Inter Milan, and Tammy Abraham at Atalanta. But first, the Belgian international needs to sign with the Blues of we are going to see all of that taking place. Can we see a major shift between these three clubs’ strikers?
