Ramos is out of contract at the end of the season and Real Madrid have now reportedly shortlisted four replacement options.

Talks between Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos have reportedly made very little progress, with the 34-year-old out of contract in the summer. An exit, therefore, is a possibility amid rumored interest from Paris Saint-Germain and, if rumors are to be believed, Manchester United.

If Ramos does leave, though, who will replace him?

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane will need reinforcements with only Raphael Varane, Eder Militao, and Nacho as his established center-back options. But according to Diario AS, the club president Florentino Perez already has a Plan B.

David Alaba

Bayern Munich have made the bold decision to withdraw a contract offer for Alaba. Thus, he will become a free agent once his current deal expires at the end of the season and can already begin talks over a free transfer.

The Austrian is a proven talent at the highest level and a top transfer target for Real Madrid.

Kalidou Koulibaly

The Senegalese center-back has been on the radar for several top clubs for the last few seasons. A series of impressive displays in the Napoli defense has kept interest alive from the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United.

If Napoli fail to qualify for the Champions League, however, the Italian side may be willing to sell Koulibaly in a cut-price deal – especially in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Jules Kounde

The 22-year-old proved why Manchester City wanted him last summer by playing a key role in Sevilla’s 2-0 Copa del Rey win over Barcelona last Wednesday.

But Kounde has a €90m release clause, which makes him unattainable for Real Madrid at the moment. Unless Sevilla are willing to sell on the cheap, a move to the Spanish capital is unlikely at this stage.

Pau Torres

The 24-year-old is a young and promising Spanish talent and would be a welcome addition for Los Blancos. But his €50m release clause, along with an unproven ability to impress at the highest level, is a potential turnoff.
