Having experienced lapses in defense this season, the German & European champions are said to be on the lookout for a new defender.

Oliver Kahn has poured cold water on rumors linking Sergio Ramos with a move to Bayern Munich.

Bayern have been far from their defensive best this season, conceding 26 goals in their opening 19 Bundesliga fixtures. Add that to the fact that David Alaba and Jerome Boateng‘s future remains up in the air, and the Bavarians appear in serious need of bolstering their backline.

Elsewhere, the future of Sergio Ramos has looked uncertain at Real Madrid in recent times. The highly-accomplished Spaniard is yet to commit to fresh terms despite having entered the final six months of his current contract at Santiago Bernabeu.

Ramos, as a result, has been linked with top teams from around Europe – and Bayern are one of them.

Contrary to the speculations, however, the Real Madrid skipper is not an option for the Bavarians, according to a member of the club’s board of directors.

“We’re losing David Alaba,” said Kahn, speaking to Sky 90, via Marca. “We made him an offer a while ago. He didn’t accept this offer.

“I also understand that a player like him, who’s been at Bayern Munich for a long time, is looking for a new challenge now. We have to think about who could be an adequate replacement for David.

“As a player, I’d love to have played with Ramos, but there’s nothing in [him coming to Bayern].”
