The Red Devils are one victory away from clinching their first trophy under Ten Hag.
Maintaining a winning mentality is key to Manchester United’s chances of claiming the EFL Cup, according to Erik ten Hag.
Since arriving at the club in the summer, the Dutchman has improved Man Utd’s form significantly. Under Ten Hag, the Red Devils have continued competing in three cup competitions while reaching Premier League‘s top three.
Man Utd will be able to celebrate their first title since 2017 if they manage to beat Newcastle in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
Speaking ahead of the game, the Dutchman told reporters: “It is not about credit, it is about trophies,” he added. “We have to keep in the same mindset, every day we want to give a better version of ourselves.
“We have to give the best performance of the season, [and] we [have to] believe in it.”
Before meeting Newcastle, Man Utd should take on Barcelona in a crunch Europa League clash on Thursday. Ten Hag says his side are looking forward to playing important games during February.
“We all want to play big games, big matches,” he added. “When we are young, we dream of it. We are now in a position through February [to have] big games coming up.
“We really enjoy it. We are really looking forward to it. We’re really excited, and we have to give our best, because we want to match with the best.”
