Manchester United are addressing a social media controversy involving Alejandro Garnacho, who appeared to like posts critical of manager Erik ten Hag following the recent draw with Bournemouth.

While the club is content that Garnacho has backed away from potential conflict with Ten Hag by unliking the posts, the matter will still be addressed internally by the Dutchman.

The Argentina international’s social media account liked posts criticizing Ten Hag’s assessment of Garnacho’s performance in the 2-2 draw with Bournemouth. However, Garnacho swiftly unliked the posts, showing contrition for his actions. A club source stated that any further action regarding the 19-year-old’s conduct is considered “an internal matter.”

Garnacho was substituted at half-time during the Bournemouth match after his error led to Dominic Solanke’s opening goal. Ten Hag explained the decision, stating that the team needed to address issues on the right side of the pitch. Additionally, Ten Hag mentioned that Garnacho was not fully fit before being selected to start, highlighting the need for energy and quality in that position.

This incident adds to a series of run-ins Ten Hag has had with first-team players this season. Marcus Rashford was disciplined in January for missing training after a night out, while Jadon Sancho accused Ten Hag of dishonesty regarding his omission from a squad in September. Unlike Garnacho, Sancho refused to back down, resulting in disciplinary measures and his eventual loan move to Borussia Dortmund.
