Man City & PSG confident Messi will leave Barca

Lionel Messi may have equaled Pele’s record for the most one-club goals in football history, but Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are both confident it has done nothing to diminish his desire to leave Barcelona.

The European giants are now ready to launch a bid to tempt the six-time Ballon d’Or winner into a transfer next summer. [90min]

James wants to fight for Man United future

Daniel James has struggled for regular opportunities this season, having made just six appearances in all competitions. It’s led to speculation he may leave on loan in January to get some much-needed football.

But it turns out the 23-year-old winger isn’t ready to give up on his Manchester United future and will continue to fight for his place. [Manchester Evening News]

Could this be Real Madrid’s chance to sign Mbappe?

A slump in revenue in 2020 could derail Paris Saint-Germain’s plans to keep Kylian Mbappe. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused PSG to lose over €100m from last season and that figure could rise to around €200m in the current campaign.

The Ligue 1 champions now need to raise €40m in the January transfer window to keep a healthy balance.

But while chances of selling Mbappe in January are next to zero, PSG won’t be able to award him a new lucrative contract like Neymar’s. And with less than two years left on the star’s existing deal, Real Madrid may finally have their chance to sign him. [AS – in Spanish]

Depay to join Barcelona in a cut-price deal

Memphis Depay had agreed on personal terms ahead of a summer switch from Lyon only for Barcelona’s financial troubles to pull the plug on a potential deal. But with the winger’s contract to expire next year, talk of a Camp Nou move persists.

Now Lyon could be prepared to sell the 26-year-old in a cut-price deal for around €5m to Barcelona in January before he leaves for free next summer. [L’Equipe via Mercato]

Real Madrid to rival Liverpool for Brighton midfielder

Yves Bissouma has become a surprise transfer target for Liverpool and Real Madrid. The 24-year-old has done excellent in the Brighton midfield this season, with Zinedine Zidane particularly impressed with his pace and physical presence.

The Malian could become a cheaper alternative for Real Madrid than Paul Pogba or Eduardo Camavinga. [Defensa Central – in Spanish]

AC Milan rule out Giroud bid

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is reportedly out for the rest of 2020 with a calf injury. He has already missed six of AC Milan’s 12 Serie A games this season, meaning the Italian league leaders may need to find a suitable back-up.

That won’t be Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud, though. Milan want somebody younger than the 34-year-old to fill Zlatan’s boots. [Inside Futbal]
