After an impressive debut season, Manchester City have awarded Ruben Dias with a new long-term contract.

Ruben Dias has signed a new contract at Manchester City that will keep him at the club until June 2027.

After a €68 million move from Benfica last summer, Dias impressed in his debut campaign. The 24-year-old quickly became a key part of Pep Guardiola’s defensive and formed a solid partnership with John Stones.

His performances won him the Football Writers’ Player of the Year and helped City win the Premier League and EFL Cup, as well as reaching the Champions League final.

“I’m very happy to sign the new deal. I have enjoyed every single minute of my time at City since joining last year,” Dias told the club’s website.

“Playing for City has surpassed all my expectations, and it’s an absolute pleasure to be part of such an incredible squad. I would also like to thank Pep and the coaching staff for the way they have helped me to develop as a player and keep pushing me to improve.

“To be part of the squad that achieved so much last season was incredible and made us all hungry to achieve even more. Now I just want to try and play my part in helping us be successful this season and beyond.”

Dias, who has already made 54 appearances across all competitions, is regarded as a long-term successor to City legend Vincent Kompany, who left the club in the summer of 2019.
