Martin Odegaard has reportedly asked Real Madrid to leave on this January transfer window.

The strange case of Martin Odegaard takes another surprising twist. The Norwegian star is only 22-years-old but it feels like we’ve been talking about him for a decade. It hasn’t been that long since the highly-rated wonderkid joined Real Madrid. However, it was back in 2015 that Odegaard became the youngest-ever debutant for the Merengues at 16 years of age.

The beginning of the young player’s career wasn’t easy, as being a Madridista comes with a lot of added pressure. Odegaard went on four consecutive loans as he struggled to find a place in Real Madrid’s squad. Nevertheless, after his impressive season at Real Sociedad, it looked like the Norwegian was finally going to get his big break.

However, that wasn’t the case. Although Zidane has recently come to the player’s defense, the manager has now left him out of the squad list for the Copa del Rey fixture against Alcoyano. Fans were left surprised as the news arose. They were hoping Odegaard could’ve gained a few more minutes for the club in a more accessible match. The attacking midfielder has only collected five minutes for the Merengues this year.

According to Marca, this unnerving situation has led Martin Odegaard to ask Real Madrid to leave the club this transfer window. Moreover, the player has reportedly expressed his wish to return to Real Sociedad.

Although the news outlet doesn’t specify if the 22-year-old wishes to complete a permanent move, Odegaard’s patience with the Merengues is bound to be running out.
