The Norwegian has been unable to reproduce the form that earned him a premature recall to Santiago Bernabeu from a loan spell away.

Martin Odegaard will “surely succeed” at Real Madrid, asserts Zinedine Zidane as he promises more first-team opportunities for the player.

Odegaard was one of the standout performers in all of La Liga during his loan spell at Real Sociedad in 2019-20.

The attacking midfielder created 10 big opportunities, 62 chances in total, and ended the season with four goals and six assists in 31 league appearances.

A significant dip in standards, however, has been witnessed by the Norway international ever since making a return to his parent club.

Odegaard neither has a goal or an assist so far this term nor has he created any big chance or completed a dribble and has been limited to just three league starts, but Zidane is not giving up on the youngest player to represent Real Madrid.

“Let him continue working, he is a beloved player and he will surely succeed here,” Zidane told reporters ahead of the Supercopa de Espana semi-final, as per AS.

“He has not played much lately but the idea is to keep working hard; he will have minutes. He will provide insurance. This is a specific moment. In a race, things happen to the players, but he is not discouraged.”
