Julian Nagelsmann had nothing but praise for his opponents after they knocked RB Leipzig out of the Champions League.

After overcoming the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Atletico Madrid en route to reaching the farthest they have ever gone in the Champions League, RB Leipzig’s journey finally came to an end on Tuesday night.

Leipzig were simply no match against Paris Saint-Germain. Unable to hold down the deadly PSG attack, and unable to show their own attacking spirit, they fell flat to a 3-0 defeat.

The scoreline could have been even more embarrassing for them, had Neymar or Kylian Mbappe brought their shooting boots into the match.

And Julian Nagelsmann was well aware of the gap in quality between the two teams as he assessed his side’s performance after the full-time whistle.

“At the end, the ticket for the final for PSG is well deserved. PSG has so much quality and at the end, they were the better team. It’s hard but football is sometimes like that,” Nagelsmann told BT Sport.

“In the first 10 minutes, we had three or four good moments and made two or three big mistakes. We had to decide before the game if we wanted to attack early.

“When we conceded the second goal the belief of our players drained. At the end, it was a question of character and we did well in the second half.”
