PSG reached the Champions League final for the first time in history on Tuesday and equaled a Real Madrid record in the process.
After two late goals saw off Atalanta in the quarter-finals, Paris Saint-Germain met the impressive RB Leipzig in the last four of the Champions League.
While the Parisians hadn’t reached the semi-finals in 25 years, they wasted little time in stamping their authority. In fact, it took just 13 minutes for Marquinhos to break the deadlock. The Brazilian headed in Angel Di Maria’s free-kick uncontested to hand PSG control and equal a Real Madrid record.
34 – @PSG_English have found the back of the net in each of their last 34 Champions League games, equaling the all-time record in major UEFA European competition (Real Madrid, also 34 between 2011 and 2014). Boom 🧨. pic.twitter.com/o9evhxqK6M

Marquinhos’ headed goal meant PSG have now scored in all of their last 34 European games, a run dating back to April 2016. That was when they lost 1-0 to Manchester City in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The only other club to match this feat was Real Madrid between 2011 to 2014 in the Champions League. It triggered an era of dominance, with the Spanish giants winning the first of four titles in the following five years.
Di Maria and Juan Bernat were also on target as PSG defeated Leipzig 3-0 to book their spot in the Champions League final for the first time. The last French club to do so was AS Monaco in 2003/04.
Bayern Munich or Lyon will await Thomas Tuchel’s side in Sunday’s Champions League final.
