Europe or MLS is mooted as the possible destination for the German midfielder amid reports that the Gunners want him off their books.
Mikel Arteta insists Mesut Ozil will only be allowed to quit Arsenal in January if a transfer deal is beneficial to both player and club.
Ozil is reportedly in ‘advanced negotiations’ with MLS side DC United as he hopes to bring an end to his nightmare at the Emirates, having not made a single appearance this season.
A move to Turkey is also being suggested for the midfielder with interest coming from Fenerbache. It has been reported that he has already agreed to a contract with the Super Lig side.
Amid growing speculations, the Arsenal manager was asked to provide clarity on Ozil’s future.
“I will decide what is happening in the next few days,” Arteta said in his pre-match press conference ahead of the FA Cup third-round clash with Newcastle United on Saturday, via Daily Mail.
“I don’t know what will happen, now he is free to negotiate with other clubs. We will discuss internally what is the best situation for him for the near future.
“If something is sorted this month it is because it is for both parties. It is good for Mesut and his future and good for the club. If that is the case we will move forward, if it is not the case then he will continue here.”
