We finally have an official update on Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s possible return with the Sweden National team during the next break.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s return to the Sweden National Team is a wet dream all football supporters had since he stopped playing for his country in 2016. The most recent European Championship was the last time the AC Milan striker donned the yellow jersey to represent his nation.

After this, Zlatan decided to call it quits and he didn’t really think he would ever feel the urge to do it again. But something has changed in Zlatan’s burning desire to keep his competitive spirit alive. Between his spectacular form and AC Milan’s dominance in Serie A, the Swedish legend recently hinted at a possible return to represent his country.

He decided to post a simple image of him wearing the jersey with a small caption: “Long time no see,” wrote Zlatan Ibrahimovic on his official Twitter account. This is clearly a message to manager Janne Andersson, who doesn’t have the best relationship with the player.

Zlatan’s criticism to Andersson.

This one happened when the Sweden manager didn’t call Dejan Kulusevski to the national team during the most recent call-up. Ibra openly criticized the manager by calling him incompetent to remain in the position. After this and his Twitter taunt, the coach had to respond in some type of fashion.

“There were some people who told me there was a plan behind that photo,” said Andersson on Aftonbladet about Zlatan’s Twitter post. “But I don’t understand what it means, it’s beyond me. I won’t waste too much energy on it.

“It has been four and a half years since he said he had finished his career in the national team. I have the utmost respect for him, just like many other players who have made the same decision. You can recover a bit during the international break, you don’t have the same pressures.

“If, on the other hand, you are part of the national team, you have to return to your country and play at the highest level again. I fully respect those who don’t feel this motivation 100 percent. So, the matter is closed for me.”
