Paris Saint-Germain clinched their 12th Ligue 1 title in commanding fashion after second-placed AS Monaco stumbled to a 3-2 defeat against Olympique Lyonnais, confirming PSG’s triumph even after their own 3-3 draw with Le Havre.

Despite missing the opportunity to secure the title on Saturday, PSG’s dominance in French football remained unchallenged. With 70 points, they held a comfortable 12-point lead over Monaco with just three games left in the season.

Monaco’s early lead against Lyon, courtesy of Wissam Ben Yedder’s swift goal, was short-lived. Alexandre Lacazette and Said Benrahma quickly turned the tables with goals within 25 minutes, putting Monaco at a 2-1 deficit. Ben Yedder’s equalizer in the 60th minute injected hope, but Lyon’s late strike from Youssouf Fofana dashed Monaco’s aspirations.

PSG manager Luis Enrique, unfazed by Saturday’s draw, expressed confidence in their imminent victory due to their superior goal difference. “We’re champions,” he affirmed, emphasizing their substantial lead over the second-placed team. “Even if we don’t score any more points, we’ll be champions.”

Enrique’s assertion proved prescient as PSG clinched their 10th title in 12 seasons without needing to play another game. The Spaniard, who assumed the managerial reins at PSG the previous season, underscored their dominance in French football under his tenure.

The victory underscored PSG’s unwavering dominance in Ligue 1, reinforcing their status as the preeminent force in French football.
