The Black stars will look to appoint a new manager ahead of the final stage of the World Cup qualifiers.

Only a few weeks before the Africa Cup of Nations, Ghana qualified for the third round of the CAF World Cup qualifiers. The Black stars topped Group G of the qualifiers, beating South Africa on goal difference.

However, Ghana’s performance in the AFCON was shockingly poor. They started the tournament with a 3-0 defeat against Algeria. Milovan Rajevac’s side then drew 1-1 against Gabon before suffering a shock defeat against Comoros.

The early elimination has persuaded Ghana Football Association to sack the Serbian manager ahead of the qualifiers’ third round.

“The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association has decided to part ways with Black Stars coach Milovan Rajevac,” an official statement reads.

The statement addded: “This follows the receipt of the Technical Report from the coach, the medical report and the report from the Management Committee following Ghana’s early exit from the Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021 tournament.

“The Executive Council after considering the three reports and engagements with key stakeholders has decided to end its relationship with coach Milovan Rajevac. We have also decided that the Black Stars Management Committee be reconstituted.

“The Association would like to thank Milovan Rajevac and the Management Committee the very best in their future endeavours.”

Ghana will host Nigeria in the first leg of their World Cup qualifying match on March 23. The two African giants will meet again in the second leg six days later.
