Questions are being asked about the way the Portuguese tactician sets up his team following back-to-back defeats for Spurs.
Jose Mourinho has rejected the suggestion that Tottenham take a cautious approach against high-profile opposition saying it “makes no sense.”
On Thursday, Spurs suffered a damaging 3-0 defeat at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb that saw them crash out of the Europa League, despite having won the first leg of the Round of 16 tie 2-0.
Prior to the Europa League loss, Tottenham were beaten 2-1 by local rivals Arsenal in the Premier League which came as a blow to their top-four ambitions.
Two high-profile defeats in a matter of days have seen questions being asked about Mourinho’s tactics and team selection.
“What you are telling me makes no sense,” the manager told Sky Sports in response to the criticism.
“The team that played against Arsenal was exactly [the same] team that played against Crystal Palace [during the 4-1 victory].
“If we go to Arsenal and we don’t play player A, B, or C and we play with more defensive players, then yes, but what you are telling me makes no sense. If it is your view, I have to tell you, sorry, it makes no sense. If it is the view of others, I have to say the same. Sorry, it makes no sense.”
