Jose Mourinho is facing intense scrutiny and criticism after Tottenham suffered a shock exit from the Europa League on Thursday.

Jose Mourinho insists Tottenham must change their attitude if they are to stand any chance at silverware.

Spurs were involved in one of the most shocking upsets of the Europa League this season on Thursday. Against all odds, Croatian side Dinamo Zagreb overcame a two-goal deficit to win 3-2 and advance to the quarter-finals on aggregate.

Speaking after that game, Mourinho could not hide his disappointment and tore into his player’s attitude for that match. Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris also branded the defeat a ‘disgrace’.

Mourinho promised to win titles for Spurs in his first press-conference for the club. However, it’s looking like another trophy-less season once again. It is not over yet though as Spurs have one final chance in the Carabao Cup.

Spurs will take on Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on April 25.

Given how ruthless and dominant the Citizens have been this term, Mourinho has called on his players to improve their attitude or miss out on yet another chance for glory.

Asked whether he could still deliver silverware at Tottenham, the 58-year-old said as per Sky Sports: “There are some groups [of players] where it is easier to win. That is obvious.”

“[On Thursday], we lost a chance at winning a trophy. I am not saying by winning [against Dinamo Zagreb] we would win the Europa League, far from that.”

“But, we were knocked out of a competition where if you go to the quarter-finals you have a 12.5 per cent chance of winning the competition. So, we can say we lost [a chance at winning] a competition.”

“Of course the only chance we have to win a trophy this season is the [Carabao Cup] final we have to play against a very good team, against the next champions and against a team that match after match show an incredible desire to win.

“It will be a very difficult final and if you want to have a chance to win of course the attitude has to be completely different.”
