In an unexpected turn of events, Tottenham Hotspur just got dramatically eliminated from the Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb.

You are reading this correctly, Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham Hotspur just got kicked out of the UEFA Europa League by Dinamo Zagreb. Initially, things were looking up for the North London club after the 2-0 victory at home. But traveling to the cold of Zagreb was still an unexpected journey for tonight. Mourinho couldn’t find the spaces to score a single goal that was more than enough to force four goals from the locals.

However, fortune didn’t smile upon the Spurs tonight. Even though they played with all the top players they had on the roster, none of them could break the lock imposed by manager Damir Krznar. The man of the hour was striker Mislav Orsic with a spectacular hat-trick. His third goal came during the second extra time of the game in form of a beautiful strike from outside of the box. This is the biggest breaking news story in Thursday’s football fixture all around the world.

Arsenal qualifies vs Olympiacos.

To Tottenham’s despair, the other North London club played the same competition simultaneously. They had a better advantage against Olympiacos after the away 1-3 victory in the first leg. Emirates Stadium saw them lose 0-1 against the Greek squad but qualified to the quarterfinals. All Spurs fans have a double reason to feel heartbroken for both getting eliminated and watching their most hated rivals get through to the next round.

Criticism against the Portuguese manager and his players will keep on coming over the next couple of weeks. As far as this season goes, the Spurs will remain unable to fight for a continental trophy. Suddenly the chances of silverware move further away from them.
