Jose Mourinho has named the one reason Tottenham fell to defeat at the hands of Liverpool on Wednesday night.

Jose Mourinho blamed Tottenham’s 2-1 loss to Liverpool on wasteful finishing in front of goal.

Son canceled out Salah’s opener before Firmino won the game for Liverpool in the 90th minute with a fine header.

Just before then, Spurs had a couple of chances to kill the game but they wasted their efforts. Call him right or wrong but Mourinho even claimed after the game that ‘the better team’ lost – a claim Jurgen Klopp clearly disagreed with.

It could have been a different story if Bergwijn had scored his one-on-one effort or if Kane had sent in a header from six yards out.

Mourinho bemoaned poor finishing and even claimed Spurs deserved all three points from the Liverpool game.

“I think even a draw would have left us not with the best taste because we had them there to win it,” the Spurs boss said as per The Independent.

“It was not just about the big chances, it was the moments of the big chances and the moment was when they were in trouble in their worst moment and we had it there to kill it but we missed it.”

“We were in the face of the keeper two or three times and we just have to kill it.

“Bergwijn was face-to-face with the keeper twice, Harry was there with the header, we had it, we knew how to hurt them and we should do much more than we did.”

Mourinho continued: “Normally in matches at this level you pay and I thought we would pay just taking a point but in the end, we didn’t even take a point so it is very disappointing.

“Sometimes you cannot play better than you did because of the opponent and I thought in such a difficult game against such a good team the boys were very good and we got punished.”

Mourinho would now be backing on a return to winning ways when Spurs host Leicester City at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium on Sunday.
