Anfield Road hosted an exciting match between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. We have player ratings.

Liverpool and Tottenham had a crucial match to fight for the top of the Premier League at Anfield Road today. Jose Mourinho had been hyping up the match as he usually does but he was aware of the difficulties to face the reigning champions. Jurgen Klopp usually doesn’t like to talk outside of the pitch as his players. From the very first minute of the game, it was evident the Reds were going after the result after Mohamed Salah’s opener during the first half.

His shot got deviated by the defense to Hugo Lloris’ dismay. However, the Spurs didn’t rest until they got that equalizer and it came from Sonny. The South Korean forward is still on fire for the Spurs as he scored his goal from a counter-attack. Regardless of how difficult this game was, we all had a feeling it would be decided by a moment of brilliance.

Bobby Firmino seals the leadership for Liverpool.

In a grueling second half for both sides, Jurgen Klopp decided to leave the same starting XI throughout the 90 minutes. The players he selected were doing a fantastic job despite the consequences they might pay for the massive effort they all made. Mourinho did have a chance to make some changes but they didn’t work to get his objective.

In the final minutes of the match, Bobby Firmino’s header was the one that gave Liverpool the lead in this highly competitive Premier League season. Jose Mourinho will have to wait a little longer in order to get back to the top. This Liverpool side keeps proving they are one of the most resilient football clubs in the world with performances like today.
