The Croatian maestro continues to be a key figure in the Los Blancos team despite being in the late stages of his career.

Luka Modric suggests age is just a number for him as he says he’s feeling like he is 27 even though he is actually 35.

A member of the old Real Madrid guard, Modric continues to be a mainstay in the team despite being in the twilight of his career.

Just on Tuesday night, the midfielder put on a marvelous performance to help his side to a 3-1 victory over Atalanta in the Champions League Round of 16 second-leg clash.

Karim Benzema opened the scoring in the first half, with the Croatian the one providing the assist. Sergio Ramos and Marco Asensio also got on the scoresheet in the second half as Los Blancos cruised into the quarter-finals on 4-1 aggregate.

“I’m 35 but I feel like I’m only 27. I feel great,” Modric told post-match, via Goal.

“You shouldn’t look at the age, it’s all about how we perform on the pitch, regardless of age. I’m still hungry for more, to continue playing at the highest level and I feel great.”

Zinedine Zidane seemed to be on the exact same page as his player, saying: “Modric is 35 right? But on the pitch he doesn’t show that. He’s an exceptional player.”

Modric added”It’s so important that we’ve advanced to the quarter-finals. The group wants to keep winning, and we’ll see how far we go.”
