According to a report from Eurosport, Real Madrid has reached an important decision about Cristiano Ronaldo’s chances to return.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been allegedly talking to Real Madrid about a possible sensational return to Los Blancos next summer. The one who broke the news first was Josep Pedrerol but several new versions have surfaced ever since. According to most of the media outlets in Spain, the Spanish giants wouldn’t mind getting Cristiano back for the final four years of his career at a competitive level.

Judging on how well he takes care of his body, the Portuguese star could still be an important figure for Los Blancos. Even Zinedine Zidane recently hinted at the possibility of taking Ronaldo back to the Real Madrid discipline. But according to Eurosport, there is no chance for Los Blancos to take Cristiano back for three very specific reasons. Keep in mind that this is only a report from a reputable source but that doesn’t make it the absolute truth.

The reasons Real Madrid won’t take Ronaldo back.

First and foremost, Los Blancos’ prime target for the summer transfer window is Kylian Mbappe. If they manage to somehow convinced PSG to sell their young star, Cristiano Ronaldo will remain an afterthought. Florentino Perez understands that the best way to move forward is to look at future generations. Cristiano Ronaldo had his chance to remain at the club but he wanted to move on. The second reason is the elevated wage that Cristiano Ronaldo currently has: €31 million per season after tax.

Real Madrid couldn’t afford to pay this to any player and they certainly can’t afford it in the middle of a global pandemic. Last but not least, there is still nothing clear about Cristiano’s relationship with Florentino Perez. We need to remember that the star didn’t leave on the best terms. The chairman refused to pay him the salary increase he requested and Cristiano made his choice. Perhaps they are in better terms now compared to before but nothing is certain. These are the reasons Eurosport lists.
