Luka Modric has urged teammate Gareth Bale to seriously consider whether or not he desires to continue at Real Madrid.

Gareth Bale has been heavily linked with a move away from Real Madrid, with interest reported from the Premier League – especially from former club Tottenham.

The Welsh winger put up inconsistent performances in 2019/20 and was eventually frozen out of Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI towards the end of their title-winning season.

Los Blancos are said to be desperate to offload him this summer. So much so that they are willing to pay half of the 31-year old’s mammoth €14.5 million-per-season salary in order to facilitate his move.

However, the club have yet been unable to fin any suitors for their outcast, probably owing to the fact that his wage demands are still hard to meet and his past injury records.

Amid all the chaos, a teammate of his, who also played alongside him at Tottenham, admits it is a tricky situation for Bale as well as Real Madrid.

“For almost 12 years we are playing together and it’s a difficult situation for him and for the club,” said Luka Modric, speaking to The Times.

“Gareth needs to know what he wants to do. Does he feel happy here or does he want to try something else?

“But, for me, Gareth is still a great player and still has a lot to offer in football. It just depends on him, if he has enough hunger or desire to keep going.”
