James Milner says Liverpool must not feel ‘sorry’ for themselves and rather look to bounce back after their shock loss to Burnley at Anfield.
James Milner has called on his Liverpool teammates to fight back after they lost ground in the title race following the defeat to Burnley.
The Reds saw their 68-game unbeaten run at home come to an end, courtesy of a late penalty from Ashley Barnes at Anfield.
The result saw Liverpool lose ground to Manchester United as they now find themselves in fourth place and six points off the top.
Milner was not in action against Burnley but has now issued a rallying cry to his teammates.
The veteran midfielder took to social media to share his thoughts as he calls for unity and belief as Liverpool fight to save their season that has faltered over the few past weeks.
Milner wrote on Twitter: “You’ll Never Walk Alone is more important than ever right now. No good comes from feeling sorry for ourselves and excuses won’t help. It’s on us, all of us, to fight our way back. We’re at our strongest when we are one force – players and supporters, TOGETHER.”
It doesn’t get any easier for Liverpool as they face difficult clashes in their upcoming fixtures.
A trip to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in the FA Cup awaits on Sunday before another game against Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham in the Premier League four days later.
