Lionel Messi and his family are reportedly learning French, which has sparked rumors of a possible transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.

Leo Messi’s future has been making headlines for months now as the Barcelona star approaches the end of his contract. The list of rumored destinations just keeps on growing, but the player’s high wages show us there are only two plausible choices: Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain. On one side, former manager Guardiola was calling. On the other, Messi’s former teammate Neymar seemed eager to reunite with his friend.

However, recent reports suggest that the Argentinian may have already decided on his future. According to French TV channel Canal+, Messi has been taking language lessons that definitely don’t suggest his future will include the Premier League.

“Messi and all his family, his wife and children are being taught French. Why is he going to learn French if he is going to sign for Manchester City? That makes no sense,” said journalist Geoffroy Garétier. “This information, in which I am very confident, is from a very reliable source.”

Having spent his entire senior career in Spain, Leo Messi never needed to learn any other languages. If the reports are confirmed, they would mean that the Barca star is at least strongly considering a PSG move at the moment. Moreover, if Barcelona’s greatest asset leaves on a free transfer, it would definitely cause big worries at the club. In fact, it was recently revealed that the Blaugrana are in serious debt and that their only option may be to sell the club.
