PSG superstar Neymar has dropped a transfer bombshell after stating his intentions to reunite with Lionel Messi next season.

It might be mere words or not but Neymar has once again stated his desire to play alongside former teammate and close friend Lionel Messi.

The Brazilian formed part of a potent front three with Messi and Luis Suarez during his four years at Barca. He has been constantly linked with a move back to the Camp Nou since leaving for PSG in a world record €222m move in 2017.

Neymar was influential in his side’s 3-1 victory over Manchester United on Wednesday and was pleased to see his side restore hopes of qualification to the Champions League Round of 16.

There were thoughts PSG could be in the Europa League if results went against them but the forward never had those thoughts.

“But we have changed. And today our dream has more life in it. Of course, I have never been eliminated in the Champions League [group stage] or played in the Europa League,” he said in a video interview with ESPN.

“That never crossed my mind and it never well. When these difficult moments come, I am able to evolve and take my responsibilities. I did not come here to play in the Europa League.”

Neymar then dropped an unexpected statement about his intentions for next season. He wants nothing more than a reunion with his old friend Messi. The PSG man even joked that Messi can take his position if he wants.

“What I want most of all is to play with Messi again, to be able to enjoy him once again on the pitch,” he continued.

“He can play in my place, I have no problem with that! But I want to play with him next year, for sure. We have to do it next season.”

It could be a cry for Barca to snap Neymar up but the chances of that happening are rather slim. The club are in no financial position to do so and a number of Barcelona’s presidential candidates, most notably Toni Freixa, thinks the Brazilian is an overrated player.

A possibility though is the thought of Messi at PSG. The Argentine is out of contract next summer and the French giants are well equipped financially to sign him. PSG boss Thomas Tuchel also recently said that the Barcelona captain is ‘welcome’ in Paris.
