Barcelona presidential candidate Toni Freixa has made a big claim about Neymar potentially returning back to the Nou Camp.

Should Toni Freixa win the Barcelona presidential elections, bringing back Neymar will not be one of the things on his mind.

Ever since the Brazilian departed Barca to join PSG for a world record fee in 2017, talks have continued to surface about a possible return.

For the past two seasons, Barcelona have been strongly linked with a move for Neymar and many even believe such a move could have gone through if not for the financial issues caused by the global pandemic.

While the PSG man is still widely regarded as one of the top players in world football, Toni Freixa shares a contrary opinion.

Neymar might have made the top-ten for The Best FIFA Men’s Player of the Year Award, but the aspiring Barcelona presidential candidate says the 28-year-old is not even that high up the ladder in European football.

Toni told Cadena SER: “Neymar, because of his performance, is not even among the 30 best players in Europe right now. If I were president, I would not sign him.”

“The most important thing about Barcelona is Barcelona itself. We do not depend on anyone.”

On the path of PSG, they are also not willing to lose their asset with PSG president Leonardo recently confirming talks are ongoing with Neymar regarding a new contract.

Even if PSG were willing to let Neymar leave, Barcelona might not be in a financial position to afford him as it stands.
