Messi responds to talks of possible reunion with Neymar at Barcelona

The Brazilian superstar has been consistently linked with a return to Spain ever since relocating to France on a world-record transfer.

Lionel Messi is doubtful of his reunion with Neymar as he believes FC Barcelona cannot afford to bring back the world’s most expensive player.

Neymar sparked a buzz among the Barca faithful after publicly expressing his desire to play alongside Messi next season, stating earlier this month that he wishes to ‘enjoy him once again on the pitch.’

There had been no shortage of reports linking the Paris Saint-Germain forward back to Camp Nou, and his comments only acted as fuel to any such rumors.

PSG would be unwilling to accept a loss on the €222 million investment they made on the Brazilian, whose current contract runs through to 2022, even if they agreed to sell him.

“How do you pay Paris for the transfer?” Messi asked, speaking to La Sexta.

“It is not easy, it will be a difficult situation for the new president. He will have to be very intelligent, get everything in order and make many changes to make it go well.

“It will also be difficult to bring in players because we need money and there is no money. There are several important current players we need to fight again for everything and you have to pay them.”
